Grá releases “Shout At The Devil” cover

Swedish black metal powerhouse Grá recorded a personal interpretation of Mötley Crüe‘s immortal classic “Shout At The Devil” to celebrate the album’s fourtieth anniversary.

Mötley Crüe’s “Shout at the Devil” celebrates 40 years now and for us it was an important song and album when we grew up.
As we were creating our latest album “Lycaon”, we had this great nostalgia trip going on and a lot of classic 80’s elements was poured into the album. Twin guitar harmonies, guitar solos, intricate bass licks, pompous drumming. Even the cover art for the album (and for the single Flame of Hephaestus) carried that homage and reeks of Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Mercyful Fate, Manowar, Motörhead and so on.
During the recording sessions we recorded two covers, the first one being the one that ended up on the album, our version of the Bathory song “Chariots of Fire”. The second one being “Shout at the Devil” by Mötley Crüe. We ultimately decided that it would be too much for the album and that it would pull “Lycaon” and Grá into a direction where we are not really heading.
Then again, we do enjoy our version of the song and we felt like it would be a suitable homage to release it now, as it is having an anniversary. We also hope that it one day reaches the ears of the creators and it would be very interesting to hear their response.
Take this for what it is, a tribute to the past and where we come from.
Shout with the Devil!
