Lorelei is the solo project of South African singer and artist Heike Langhans (ex-Draconian, Remina, Sojourner). After years of releasing only singles and unfinished demos, Heike finally fulfilled her promise of releasing a full solo album. Peace By Proxy is the first album under the Lorelei name in sixteen years, a 10-track offering of dreamy darkwave that comes from a more personal space than her other bands.
Still inspired by sci-fi and cosmology, this album veers more towards existential truths and fears with moments of vulnerability and frustration for the human condition and the world we live in. Catchy melodies, hypnotic synths and punchy beats, coupledi with Heike’s unmistakable voice makes this a truly unique album.
Here at Avantgarde Music we asked Heike to comment on this release, which will finally see the light of day in physical form, after an initial digital-only release. ‘I took ages to finish this album’, Heike says ‘Because this project merely served as a bottle of time-capsules where I express personal musings. To my surprise, listeners like the dark electronic stuff and perhaps relate to the themes as well, so nothing but gratitude to the Avantgarde Music family for releasing this!’
